Forged in the fires of working for two decades in politics, government, public affairs, and innovation, David is an inspirational global thought leader. Heco-chairs the Civic Innovation program at the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard University where the next generation of leaders in the public and private sectors are creating the future. Bringing his talents from working for the County of San Diego, and City of San Diego, David now serves as theChief Innovation Officer for the City of Carlsbad, CA and runs the Innovation& Economic Development Department.
Uniting government, academia and the private sector David has broken through traditional barriers and organizational distrust to create impactful innovation. He created the first all-electric car-share fleet in North America, developed the model for an inclusive approach to government adoption of new technology, and launched a cyber awareness for small business program that is being scaled around the country.
His passion for land use, civic innovation and intelligent infrastructure has led him to be a recognized leader and regular speaker nationally and internationally.
